Yes he is 5, but he is very mature and a very strong (and fast) swimmer. He is terrible at ball sports, so we are trying to show him soccer (which he is terrible at and the other kids let him know it) is not the be all end all of sports.

Thanks for everyone who gave me snack advice!

He's 5 - how could you possibly reach such a conclusion at this age? To be blunt, this is a disservice to your son.

I didn't even see that statement when I first read this -- yes, OP, he is 5. This is WAY too early to have any idea what he will be good at or what he will enjoy. For the next 5 years (or more) kids should be trying different sports and activities. If you are really lucky they will find something that they have a talent for and a passion.

Oh I sign him up for soccer, baseball, etc. and he plays soccer daily at recess. But the kids are very mean to him about his ability both on and off the field. But I will keep signing him up and cheering him on until he makes the call himself.

In the meantime, he's a fantastic swimmer, he enjoys being on a team and going to practice and even won a race.

All of this is such a tangent on a thread requesting snack ideas, but I guess I should have known better. Well done, DCUM!
