USS Comfort — why not send to Gaza?

Hamas attacked Israel. Palestinians back Hamas.

Israel should do everything they can to kill Hamas.

It's a big fat target in the Med.

We are the United States of America. We don’t need to cower. We spend almost a trillion dollars a year on our military. Let’s use it.

Hamas would LOVE to blow it up. Good lord.

Hamas has never sunk an American ship before, Israel on the other hand has.

Israel would be pointing fingers at Hamas while the missiles were still in the air over Tel Aviv.

Only if you put your kids on that ship. I am not willing to get our naval men and women ki11ed over this religious war.

I think sending the Comfort or Mercy would be an infinitely better choice than sending more weapons.

The Comfort is being worked on in Mobile while the Mercy is somewhere in the Pacific.

France is sending two of their hospital ships though.

The Palestinian Liberation Front did hijack the Achille Lauro, right?

A US amphib also has close to a thousand bed spaces for casevac plus the deck space for ship to shore ops.

Ironic and, sadly, amusing to see the chickenhawk Netanyahu drones in here suggesting that Hamas would be the party to blow up a U.S. ship with the USS Liberty stain on the State of Israel. That was before they realized the power of blaming their deeds on others, folks. Today, it would have to be that Hamas did it, or worst case, Hamas terrorists were hiding beneath all of the women, children, and U.S. personnel.

Why not a holy war free for all? The cumulative death toll of Palestinian innocents over the past 75 years is what? 200 - 300x that of the cumulative death toll of Israeli innocents? 300 - 500x? 500 - 1000x?

Anyway, at this point, let’s strip both sides of their weaponry (mostly sticks and rocks on one side, mostly F-16s, F-35s, and chemical weapons on the other side), and have them fight to the death over their disputed, sandy motherland, right?

Hand to hand combat, no weapons, last one standing takes that patch of desert for good. Those opting out to find a peaceful existence elsewhere get first class plane tickets to a destination of their choice, paid rent + utilities for life, safety and assurance of no further persecution.

The cost in the long run will be far less than what we incur as U.S. taxpayers now, so why not? Why continue to endorse this pattern of malignancy that both sides embrace?

Because according to Egypt, 2/3 of the refugees Gaza tried to send out yesterday through the Rafa border were Hamas terrorists. And while the world expects israel to cohabitate with Hamas, the rest of the world isn’t going to sign itself up for that.

Hospitals in Egypt. Heck, Israel could open ip its hospitals provided of course no terrorists enter.

Double standards applied to Israel yet again.

Target? With a carrier group sitting right there? If they were to target it, Hezbollah would be turned into a bunch of smoking craters a few minutes after.

why not to send all the protestors from US to Gaza to help care for some of the wounded children? Those who spray paint the White House last night with the red paint, they surely can go and help.
