| Since this crisis looks like it will last for a while, why not start the USS comfort on its way to help care for some of the wounded children? I thought we should do that weeks ago but it seems like it’s still sitting in dock in Norwalk. |
| Because it's Palestinian children, that's why. Maybe it can do dual duty and seing by Sudan too. |
| But its whole purpose is to aid in foreign disasters. And I get that there are a lot but this seems uniquely well situated for a ship to assist particularly given there isn’t ready access to other hospitals. |
| Does the ship have a disguise? The US can’t be publicly seen supporting the Palestinians. |
| Are we allies of Israel or not? |
| Because Hamas will destroy an American ship. It can't be safely done. |
| Why would this be the one conflict where we send the USS Comfort to help the other side? All civilians are innocent. All of them. Not just Gazans. |
This. ICYMI: Hezbollah is dying to fight, and they are far better equipped than Hamas. Far better. And, they are publicly stating their intention to go after America and our interests. Our ship would be an easy target. May I suggest instead that Egypt, Lebanon, and others work with the Red Cross and others to safely move people elsewhere for humanitarian assistance? I’m appalled at the pushback by Arab nations in the area. Appalled. The Egyptian John Stewart (Bassem Youssef) suggested the solution to the neverending crisis is to give Florida to Israel so the Jews can be relocated and Palestinians would get their land back. Or someplace in Europe would work, too. He’s probably not wrong if the measure of success is moving Jewish people far away from the militant groups (and everyday folks) who want them dead and gone. But he’s not right either. He places the blame squarely on Europeans (historically) followed by America. Zero agency for the Arab nations and militant groups dedicated to the destruction of Israel and Jews. |
This is a great idea. I hope we do it. |
|
Keep the USS Comfort at home.
It's a big fat target in the Med. |
Bassem Youssef's in laws are in Gaza, I believe their home was destroyed, he's pretty incensed and not an unbiased party to comment on this. I would probably feel the same if it were my family in harm's way. |
We are the United States of America. We don’t need to cower. We spend almost a trillion dollars a year on our military. Let’s use it. |
Hamas would LOVE to blow it up. Good lord. |
Let the Arab states take care of them. We don't need to borrow money from China so we can aid them. |
But we can borrow money from China to give Israel! |
