This Halloween feels very quiet right?

So far busy in Vienna.

We have had more trick or treaters tonight than in the past few years combined.

Also in Arlington in what is usually a high ToT traffic neighborhood. Feels like about half of last year. We definitely overbought candy.

We were decent this year in terms of number of kids participating, but it seems like fewer and fewer houses participate every year. It’s sad. I feel like I have to give more to make up for the fact that more than 50% of the houses on my street are dark.

I moved this year and bought about 500 pieces of candy, just in case. We have had 3 little kids lol.

Very few ToTrs, but my jack o lanterns are awesome! Best my son has done.

Weird.

Is everyone out trick or treating with their own kids or out at party?

Or do you have neighbors from religions/cultures that don’t celebrate?

I got my Wonder Woman costume to open the door for trick or treaters. None.

I've only had a few large groups of like 5-8 kids so it feels quiet but that's still more than 20 kids. FWIW, we aren't on a main street.

I think it’s the second one, and a fair number of elderly, and a fair number of transient renters. We’re in TH’s in Fairfax County. Not sure if the SFH sections of our neighborhood are any better.

I thought it was quiet, then I went to go pick up my daughter from a friends house a mile away. Numbers are definitely down this year. It’s a school night, it’s cold, Gaza/Palestine, and Halloween generally on the decline at least as far as “public” holiday. Many celebrations over the weekend though.

I've had ONE trick or treater. Sad. We have about 10 kids on our block.

What? You think world events are keeping people inside? if 9/11 and COVID didn't keep the beggars away, a crisis an ocean away isn't. We are Americans and tend to compartmentalize.

Do more people take their kids to those trunk or treat events now skipping traditionally trick or treating?

Totally. Definitely keeping my kids from trick or treating this year because of events going on halfway around the world.
