Agree, MLS Next teams are easy for college coaches to know they are getting a high-caliber player. The filtering of players and talent has already happened. Everyone else is an unknown. |
| Thank you! I appreciate the info. Would welcome anyone’s direct experience with any of the teams. |
+1 ... and it seems to have gotten worse this year. |
My DS has been with Potomac for many years and has a good experience. I believe that most of the top teams are already full though. |

What are the differences between Bethesda MLS Next and Bethesda Blue and Bethesda Green for 2007 boys?
|
MLSNext is their 1st team, Blue is the second and Green is the third. |
They have a lot of the old MRM (Maryland Rush Montgomery) staff who came over from Arrington. It really depends on your goals. If you just want to "play travel" MSI is fine, but they're not a proven commodity at this point. When already in HS, Potomac or Bethesda may be a better fit to goals, if you can get on a team. |
Do kids from blue or green tend to go on to play mens' soccer in college? |
Define college. |
I think he means D1 |
Any college with high-quality education. Could be D3 or something else. |
| OBGC Travel is definitely worth considering. We’re happy with their focus on skills development in an encouraging yet solidly competitive environment. They have experienced coaches and the program has produced solid high school, college, and pro players over the years. |
| If your child is on the fourth team (and some clubs shamelessly have 5th, 6th and more), your child is on what is called a revenue team. All you are doing is wasting your money, giving it to a club that won't help your child develop. Find somewhere else, somewhere that will invest the time and resources developing your child. Don't fall for the 5th team on a fancy name brand club |
