Why take it after 8th? Why not just take it after 9th and 10th? Is there any advantage to this? |
Kids can’t work yet. Gives two summers where you can take required credits like health, tech, art and get them done to take more interesting courses in HS school, or do early college/dual enrollment, or work, or graduate early. |
| There is MS health and then there's HS Health. Two different classes. |
Usually announced closer to the end of the school year, after spring break. Registration is through Synergy. |
Yes, last year it was in April. |
| FYI they said at one of the budget meetings that for summer school 2024 they would be returning to the pre-pandemic policy of charging fees for summer school classes. |
| Is Health B still offered in the summer? I thought it was phased out?? |
Used to be you could not take it after 8th...dI'd it change? |
Health B is a new requirement for the class of 2025. Last summer, it was not yet phased in. As they are offering it online during the school year this year, it is likely it will be offered during summer school. |
I looked for that language on the website for the most recent summer school. I think it changed when they expanded the offerings to cover most core courses and started allowing original credit and not just repeats. |
It felt late -- maybe March or April? Bookmark this page and check it every couple weeks for dates & registration info: https://www2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/extendedhours/summerschool/ |
You can take it after 8, before 9. You do it as the class sucks and to get it over with. Not worth giving up another class or elective for it. You sign up in the spring. If you google it on the mcps website last years should be there. |
Really? What school are you at? I didn’t know non-seniors could get responses now on non-emergency matters. |
What also changed is that it went from being a half year req course to a full year requirement |
| Is the online summer Health class autonomous or live? |
