What's disgusting is that a person was given only 5 years for killing someone.

Victim blaming is gross.

He wasn't a victim. He was a combatant that lost. Big difference.

I actually saw one of the videos right after this happened. The victim was swinging his arms around like he was doing some hybrid dance/punching into the air at no body and the killer literally runs up and stabs him repeatedly in the stomach and runs off. Regardless of whether the victim was in or associated with a gang, as a society his behavior in the parking lot didn’t warrant getting stabbed and dying.

You are a liar. He was stabbed once in the chest.

Huh? He gets stabbed but keeps swinging around and then stumbles back and a cope comes up to him to help him lay down and tries to stop the bleeding. So GTFOH with your crap.

Nope. You claimed he was stabbed a bunch in the stomach . That is a lie. One fatal wound to the heart. It’s part of the public record, dumbass.

So, shut up.

There were several videos circulating when this happened. I saw 2 of them. But keep arguing on this thread like the nut job you are while some kid is dead and the other is jail.

Those 5 years have already ruined his life. Not saying he deserves less, don't get me wrong, but his life is over. No college, no career, no spouse in his future. That should satisfy your bloodlust somewhat?

Either you love drama or it’s time for your meds. He walks free at 21.

And thank you for shining light on something else. My guess is most of you naive restorative justice types haven’t been poor and/or lived with the mentally ill. If you had, you’d be embarrassed by how ignorant you sound. Rarely do kids change once they’ve aged into high school. (Yes, the word *aged* was intentional. They’re not getting to the next grade level without administrators pushing them through.)

If anything, there’s a good chance his short time in lock up added a few years to his life. If you want to count on something, let it be this. There’s a solid chance he’ll be a $h!t father to kids that’ll require more community services.

Stopping using your time chipping away at civility and take up a productive hobby that matches your intellect. Go compost something.

Not sure I understand your logic. Good or bad, he didn’t deserve to be murdered.

And serving 5 years is little more than a slap on the wrist for the killer. Not exactly a deterring message for the local ne'er-do-wells.

This is a wild take. Purely sociopathic.

That is a very light sentence for murder.

I personally know the prosecutor in this case and he is very, very progressive and the fact that he asked for 30 years (and that it was supported by the office) was surprising to me. I am stunned that the judge only gave 5, 25 less than the prosecutor asked.

This is a sad state of affairs in the city of Alexandria. This sends a very clear message and it's disgusting.

Porter knew what he was doing when he charged as a juvenile. There is no such thing as a 30 year term for a child. If he really wanted 30 he should have charged him as an adult. It's all politics- he gets to pretend he is tough on crime while he allows a literal slap on the wrist for a murderer who isn't even supposed to be here.

PP here. Porter wasn’t the prosecutor in this case but he is the boss, so you’re probably right. I didn’t think about it that way. Next time I see Lord I might ask him.

That people who haven’t experienced poverty are creating terrible solutions that won’t/don’t work.
