We haven’t received any information beyond the letter that is posted here.

MCPS have SRO’s idiot and they didn’t do anything to prevent the gun.

They have CRO's and security but they need way more. And, they need metal and other detectors.

What a POS you must be to hear this news and attempt an " I told you I was right"
Wow.
Wj has over three thousands students so it is more likely to happen there than other places. .

I am impressed the student who saw it showed leadership and responsibility and reported it. I can think of a few schools where that part wouldn't have happened.

DP. I wouldn't do it, but since nothing bad happened, and there isn't even any evidence that anything bad was intended to happen, I don't think "W parents need to re-examine your false sense of security and superiority with respect to the DCC" is so inappropriate here.

Your jealousy and insecure pettiness are cringeworthy, PP. The majority of families at W schools do not post on DCUM boasting about their schools. You've never met 99% of these people, and surely you'll concede that most of them aren't even thinking of DCC/W. That's mostly in your head. If you're so sensitive about your situation in the DCC that your first reflex is to criticize people who live in wealthier districts, something is very, very wrong with you.

For shame.

There's a Facebook group for posts where someone tries to correct someone else online but is wrong. You should send yourself there so they can laugh at you.

I’m not aware of any WJ or other parents with a sense of security or superiority with respect to gun violence. That would be misplaced for almost any parent in America. I’m not sure why posters are trying to sow division here. It’s disgusting and immature. And I certainly won’t attempt to paint them as representing DCC parents, who are our friends and, for many at WJ, nearby neighbors.

As a W parent I can assure you that we aren't thinking about you at all

The takeaway is that no MCPS school is safe and parents need to have discussions with their kids about what they need to do if they see a weapon or dangerous drugs in school.

Maybe it's just the one troll who thought he could get traction and is now sock-puppeting because everyone's coming down on him like a ton of bricks.

I actually do know one parent in Silver Spring who has a chip on his shoulder about Bethesda. For years he made nasty comments about entitled people there, in the "I'm packaging this as a joke so I can be rude" vein. It was annoying, but thankfully he's calmed down these days. So such people do exist.

Also aren’t we all scared for our children? Can’t we all have compassion? There is no place safe thanks to the damn NRA gun obsessed country we live in.

I'm not in the DCC or Bethesda, but I have heard real people who live in Bethesda, in real life, make comments about the superiority of Bethesda schools over crime-infested schools in other parts of the county.

Here's a sampling of some of the DCUM threads where W school parents act holier than thou and above the riff-raff of the rest of MoCo:
