We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly."

The implicit is now explicit. It has always been heavily implied that Israeli civilians are more important than Palestinian civilians, but it seems that the Israelis are now willing to say it out loud.

I read this quote and it was clear he was talking to IDF troops about fighting Hamas militants. I agree we need a specific word for humans who make the behavioral choices we saw this weekend. We needed one for Isis, we need one now. Do you have a better suggestion than "human animal"?

His actions are now being considered a war crime by Human Rights Watch.

You mean his words. On the scale of war crimes...

Btw, Hamas could start bringing them down to the tunnels. That’s where the militants are safely staying. And the billionaires are sleeping in Qatar. Do you think they will start to save them? I’ll be watching for this.

Why would they want to come here? They want their homeland, they just don't want to compromise.

They could do more good here vs in Gaza. They would control 6 senators(from held by republicans) and 3 congressmen.

The action because a "complete closure" is against international law.

Has Human Rights Watch made a statement about Hamas and their war crimes?
I went to their website, and frankly, it is mostly anti-Israel propaganda. And, pleas for donations all over the place.
Couldn't find anything condemning Hamas.

Maybe I am reading the statement differently. Who is punished by cutting off food, fuel, and electricity to 2 million people?

I think it's supposed to put pressure on Palestinians to oppose Hamas

They seem to despise Israel beyond human comprehension.

there are now reports of Hamas beheading Israeli soldier/captives. Still waiting for a better descriptor than 'human animal'
I want to be very clear, it is morally imperative that Israelis follow Geneva conventions while they crush Hamas. They should do this, because it's important that humans do not behave like human animals.

And then Gaza should be handed to a tightly controlled governance board to rebuild better over the next twenty years. That would protect the children there.

I used to respect HRW. In fact, I used to donate to them on a regular basis. But the fact that they’re silent on the rapes and murders of the Israeli civilians is appalling.

In any event, I don’t consider them credible any more. I stopped my donations years ago, when I started to realize that I could not trust them as an organization.

They could go into the concrete tunnels. There are many of them, and they are heavily fortified.

However, Hamas will not allow civilians to protect themselves in the tunnels.

Didn’t Israel take the Gaza Strip from Egypt way back when?

Israel did as a result of Egypt’s invasion. They withdrew from Gaza in 2005 permanently in a land for peace deal (ha!) and it has been self governed ever since. The people elected Hamas and the rest is history. Egypt doesn’t want it. And yes, Egypt, if you care, open your borders and let these people in. They won’t though- they don’t actually care.

They’ve lived there for like 50 years. They are Egyptian, the West Bank residents are Jordanian. There is no Palestinian ancient homeland.
