Brookdale CCMD right over the line from DC |
Does it actually feel neighborhoody though? Or is it full of boomers and empty nesters. |
You just described Capitol Hill's Eastern Market area. |
CCDC but Murch not Lafayette, which is full of Karens. |
AU Park. This is what we had/have but our kids are older (15 and 18), it really is block by block.
Middle school is really the tough nut to crack in DC if you want to go public school all the way through. Deal is not perfect but no middle school is. I would look in Palisades too unless you need/want metro. |
Brookland for community but you’ll have to go private or charter for schools. |
Palisades! Great elementary school (Key) and a really warm community. Palisades park is great for kids, a bunch of good restaurants on MacArthur, Fourth of July parade etc. |
Crestwood if schools aren't a consideration and Chevy Chase DC. I really like Chevy Chase because there are loads of kids who do their own thing, ride bikes unsupervised. Reminds me a bit of my own childhood! |
There are porchfests and park concerts, a July 4th parade, neighborhood Halloween Party etc. There's a playground right in the neighborhood so lots of kids playing and biking |
She asked for DC. Not only is Wood Acres not in DC, it is a car centric suburban community. |
+1. We've been here for 15 years, and that has been the vibe the entire time. |
People in AU park are notoriously horrible and not what many would call "supportive". Palisades you may have better luck but I'd lower your expectations OP. Those areas take time to meet people of quality and not many are very "nice". |
AU Park is wonderful. Lived there for many years. |
Bloomingdale! Something about the size of it means you see your friends and neighbors over and over again and it feels like a bubble of neighborliness. IMHO |
Glover Park, Glover Park, Glover Park. |
