Ref probably got tired of parents screaming “let them play” every time they called a foul. |
Didn’t bethesda also lose to a GA team in a tournament in May? Maybe the ECNL semi final was the outlier for them and this is more the norm. Must have been some lucky breaks/calls in their favor/sick opposing player. Or do those things only matter when bethesda loses? |
| Where was Union at WAGS? |
Some local teams chose EDP Cup. One thing I thought was interesting was a Union kid I know was guesting on another team. |
09s were there, lost to Arlington. |
|
One thing I saw at both WAGS and the Heritage Cup (and I see this frequently), was parents sitting way too close to the field.
It is worse at ulittle when there are no linesmen, but I’m always amazed at parents who set up right on the sideline. Saw uLittle Alexandria parents today with their chairs on the sideline and their feet literally on the field. Tournaments, refs, and teams need to do better on this. |
Lost to PPA 09s as well. |
Edp cup drew a 5m line from the field for parents to not cross. |
| Sometimes there’s no room. Like on field 2 at Spring Hill. |
How long has Bethesda had their 2010 coach? How do parents deal with that? |
| Had generally good refs at SAC but one exceptionally disgraceful one. A miracle no one was seriously injured. Also a random observation: the boys parents at this tournament were crazier than the girls, which isn’t my usual experience. |
Ukranian Nationals are my favorite team to watch and play against. They beat DD's team consistently, but they are just gorgeous to watch. I would love DD's team to play like them! |
Maybe most of the nutty girl parents were at WAGS this year.
|
Agreed here. Luckily only one of our games was like that, but I do wish there was a way to mix things up a bunch more. |
| I saw some exceptionally bad sideline behavior from the parents of a team from New York. The parents got carded. The girls were U12. |
