Dag, they have the ability to pinpoint an epicenter to an intersection? I had no idea. Cool.

With this kind of technology it's too bad they can't make traffic move more efficiently!

Lived in San Francisco for 4 years so I'm veerrrryyy familiar with the earthquake sensation. Earthquake woke me up..... bed was shaking, floor boards were creaking, but the dog just slept right through it. Go figure.

I woke up at about the time it ended. My DH had said to me, "we just had an earthquake!" I told him it was probably a military jet flying low. Guess he was right!

At first I thought it was the orange line train that passes underneath my street. You can feel it at night, a ong low rumble. Then I remembered that we moved to Arlington and we are not near the metro.

I was un LA for Northridge. Obviously it wasn't the same as that, but it is always nice to be reminded that the earth is alive and kicking. Let's see if we get any aftershocks.

I was in the middle of my morning routine - masturbation. I thought I dreamt it, until I turned on the news!

Are you male or female?

My husband thought it was the furnace kicking on! I guess he was still asleep when I woke up saying "I think this might be an earthquake!"

It was caused by the BP cap, too much pressure under it

I actually felt it twice. Once for a few seconds and then again about 10 minutes or so later.

I slept through it! Dang.

After waking up saying "what the heck was that", I went and checked the 5 y.o. and then said to DH 'must have been an earthquake'. My years in LA, leaving just before Northridge, I guess I just knew. I also knew that you don't have to be in California for earthquakes. I felt my first one in Ohio 30 years ago.

Woke up and was pretty sure it was an earthquake because of how long it went on and because I couldn't hear a truck or helicopter, etc. outside that could be causing it. And it wasn't quite the same feeling. My husband, baby, and dog all slept through it - though the dog has been freaking out over the last two days, so perhaps she knew it was coming.

We're in Gaithersburg and indeed felt it! Our apartment shook for a few seconds and there was a very unpleasant alien-like sound ... It was hard to fall asleep afterward because we kept thinking about. (First time we've experienced an earthquake.)

I felt it and so did DH. I was in Northern CA during the Loma Prieta quake and DH was in LA for Northridge, yet we were still slightly freaked during today's earthquake. Probably because we both know how bad earthquakes can be! It felt as though the ground was rolling, and it lasted (what felt like) a long time - for me, this was very similar to Loma Prieta, although much weaker of course.

DC slept through the whole thing.

Also felt it, here in Fairfax,VA by GMU. Both my DH and I woke up and wondered what it could be. I didn't hear any jets nearby and the shaking lasted a little while longer, enough for me to tell DH I thought it was an earthquake, he shrugged and went back to sleep.
