Wow, did anyone else feel that? From Twitter, citing Fox News, it was an earthquake of 3.7 magnitude. Our house was shaking for several seconds. The cats took off running in a panic. I think that was the first earthquake I ever experienced. I know all you CA folks will tell us this was nothing, but was kind of cool for me.
Fox is now saying it was centered in Gaithersburg. |
| Is that what that was???? I wondered if a large truck went by the house or something. Wow!! |
| Yep - we were up taking care of the baby. I felt the floor rumble & thought it was a really big, heavy truck driving by, which makes no sense since we are on a small residential street where we don't get that kind of traffic. My husband has felt an earthquake before in CA & realized it was an earthquake right away. |
| Yup, I'm right here at the Rockville Gaithersburg line. Sounded like something big crashed downstairs and then a long truck rumble. |
| Sure did -- and we are all the way down here in Annandale. |
| Wow, I'm in Gaithersburg and it woke me up. I kept thinking there had to be some other explanation, but eventually decided that it must have been an earthquake. Can't believe it was centered here - this is why I live here and not in California! I was promised no earthquakes! (kidding, I know they happen anywhere) |
I'm thrilled it was an earthquake! (although hope nobody was hurt of course). I heard a crash and woke my husband and shook him, telling him we just had to go check downstairs. He thinks I'm crazy anyway, but at least this time I was justified that something actually happened.

Yep, I'm in Rockville and I was up feeding my baby and thought the trash trucks were just coming a bit earlier this morning at first DH is out of town, so I'm on the nervous side, so I couldn't go back to sleep.

| im in dc and my 10 year old and I both work at 5 something. Now that I read this I remember as I woke I felt huge rumbling but thought it was a truck. I could not go back to sleep but he will be so excited to know it was an earthquake when he wakes again. |
| Felt it and thought "strange, we don't have earthquakes here" and rolled over and went back to sleep! |
Dag, they have the ability to pinpoint an epicenter to an intersection? I had no idea. Cool. |

In Vienna.
Up and getting ready to get into the shower. Heard/felt it as well and thought "what is that" coupled with "that's odd". Figured I'd try to figure out what it was (trucks, low flying heli or plane) after the shower... but by then it was gone. DH and kids slept right through. |
Same here-thought it was the loud neighbors who live above but remember thinking they usually don't make the bed shake. Rolled over and went back to sleep-I'm pretty serious about my ZZZ's. |

My husband and I both woke up - then my husband ran to my son's room to check on him (fearing it was one of our huge trees falling on the house). Then of course, my son never got back to sleep and only wanted mommy. Stupid 5am earthquake.
But man, it was the weirdest feeling. |

I was in the 1992 earthquake. At the time, I was certain I would die.
I woke up last night and knew we had had an earthquake. I told my husband. He said I must have been dreaming. |
