Parkway Deli in Silver Spring. The chicken soup is delicious, especially with the matzoh balls.
Matzo Ball soup from Bradley Food and Beverage. Doordash delivers.
Aguadito de pollo, but I am not sure from where. I used to get it at this place in Takoma Park by the train tracks, but now I make it.
This was my recommendation for a classic, American style chicken noodle soup. They also have a spicy version that is great for congestion. |
Hot and sour soup is what I’d get.
If you are in DC, Thai noodle soup from Rice! Get the spicy broth.

Tom Kha Gai is my go to. It is similar to Tom Yum, which is broth based, but Tom Kha Gai is coconut milk-based. As another Thai recommender said, it’s a comforting mix of flavors. Savory, sweet, rich, “spice” but not spicy. My Thai place usually serves it with chunks of ginger floating in it, so it answers that part of your brief. I usually get mine spicy (clear those sinuses!) but the default is not spicy.
