Home alone with the flu. Would love to get some chicken soup delivered. Open to any type of cuisine - could be Thai, Ethiopian, Mexican, etc
Though something with ginger sounds appealing. Tell me your favorite take-out chicken soup and why it hits the spot when you're sick. |

Pho. With ALL the stuff in it.

Tom Yum soup from Thaipad in DC. The flavors—lemongrass, lime leaf, shrimp oil, galangal, and chilies—are incredible, and they make the most balanced one I’ve had here. It’s perfectly sweet, sour, salty, and spicy. You should be able to taste it pretty well even if you’re congested, and I always feel nourished by it. I usually get the veggie or shrimp version, they have chicken as an option too.
Hope you feel better soon. |
| I was just contemplating soup for myself, too, since I don’t feel well. I’m leaning towards Pho but the quality of the restaurants around me is much worse than it used to be. |
| ChickFilA has great chicken noodle soup! They deliver. |
| Prescription Chicken - they only deliver in DC though. |
| Any pupusa place will have Salvadoran hen soup which is one of the best things I have ever tasted. Otherwise any good pho, or the matzah ball soup from Parkway deli. |
| Pho |
| I would get wegmans or instacart to deliver me their chicken tortilla soup |
I used to like pho but the last few times it's been, hard to explain, carcassy or gamey. Is that the bone broth? Or have my tastes changed? |
|
Just a warning, if you’ve never had pho, the broth has a very specific flavor profile. I’m not a picky eater and generally like Asian food (love ramen), and recently tried it for the first time. I didn’t like the flavor at all. I think it’s just the combination of spices, because I went with a friend who loves it, had been to the place before, and said it was excellent pho.
If you’ve had it and know you like it, then go right ahead! |
| Noodles and company have a decent chicken soup. |

| I recently had Covid and the only thing I wanted to eat was chicken soup. I ordered the egg drop chicken soup with peas and carrots from the Chinese place near me, Dumplings and More, in Glover Park. It was sooo good. I actually felt nourished afterwards and started to feel better. |
