MAP scores beyond 6th grade?

OP, your kid probably just had an off day. It happens. MAP won’t affect his placement.

My DC was extremely bored out of his mind while taking the MAP R. Acc to him he was falling asleep and to get through it he just clicked random answers without reading the passages and got a terrible score. What do you do with that? He also asked why does it matter? He is also in 6th grade. I wonder how many kids do that?

No. Everyone takes "advanced" English, which is on grade level.

Huh... my 7th grader also just had a big drop... dropped from 97th to 83rd percentile... his math stayed at 99th. I'm going to assume it's just a fluke, unless somehow the test changed. His MAP-R has always been slightly worse then his MAP-M, though it's been above the 90th percentile since 5th grade.

The math content progression is extremely standard and mostly natural. ELA is a loose bag of content.

OK, so my kid (the 7th grader) said he didn't get any questions on the meanings of words with Latin roots, which he said he usually used to get 2-3 of. (He said "Latin roots," but it may have included a broader range of "fancy words.") He said in general he felt like he didn't rush though he may have done the first few questions a bit too fast, and it is adaptive... So maybe they did change the test a bit or maybe it was a fluke.

I noticed the percentile for the map-r listed by MCPS are different now than what NWEA shows.
