Big Vegetable is taking us for a ride

The answer is green peppers. There are no redeeming qualities to a green pepper.

Julia Child added them to recipes. They somehow become not only acceptable but required for some recipes? People! these are just vegetables nobody knew what to do with and they tried it on before feeding it to the pigs.

Am I missing any?

Turnips
Leeks
Fennel

Your knowledge of "food history" is pretty lacking.

You are also kicked off the thread but you are probably the same person.
This is the food forum. Please at least make an attempt.

OP here. I like this one!
I thought I liked stuffed peppers but I really only liked the stuff inside!
Somebody thought "damn I have a crate of green peppers from Dave's pig farm! If I stuff them with something good, maybe people won't notice that the peppers themselves are disgusting. And while I'm at it, let me stuff these mushrooms I found under a log and pass those off as food as well!"

(disclaimer, I like green peppers and mushrooms in small doses mixed with other things. They are not made for just chomping and chewing alone)

Shut up, those are my three favorites!!!
Turnips in stews, are a delicious break from heavy potatoes. Or raw, sliced paper thin with oil, salt and cumin, amazing little starter salad.

Leek soup omg. Boiled leak in vinagrette, omg. Leek quiche. What is wrong with you for not craving this?

Fennel sliced super thin, with super thin sliced oranges, another amazing salad.

There is more to life than iceberg lettuce and cherry tomatoes, dude.

I'm quite ignorant on jackfruit! I thought it was used all over the place now for its "meaty" texture? Not working?

Also, I've always wondered who first decided to eat an artichoke. They must have been very hungry to try it.

Okra is mostly only okay, but fried okra is one of the best foods.

You've just opened a new category. If the vegetable can be deep fried, is it salvageable? Palatable even? Discuss.

Turnips are great - mashed with a ton of butter and bacon.

Okra is great - cut up and deep fried, and dipped in ranch.

Jackfruit is great - marinated in BBQ sauce and cooked.

Jackfruit is amazing as a fruit - canned, or purchased at the asian mart by the 5Lb half fruit, and hacked into, nibbled on, by the whole family over a few hours.

This is my point. You have made my point. Go in peace.

Sweet potato fries are an insult to the humble, hard working russet potatoes french fries.

We hear you guys. You like bacon, BBQ sauce, and deep fried batter. We hear your words, and we also hear your heavy steps, and the ambulance's siren taking you away in cardiac arrest.
