not for girls. They look at a lot of girls which i think is better than less girls. |
Not necessarily true. There are clubs that don't send any players. It is not really a preference of one thing or the other. A good player can be on a top team and also be invited to an ID clinic. There are many top clubs that send multiple players from a good team. US Soccer is not like ECNL, which wants to keep all its clubs happy. ECNL will give all-conference honors out to every club. (With better clubs getting more kids.) US Soccer is less beholden to the clubs. |
| I'm the OP. Thanks for the answers. I'm mostly interested in understanding the girls side (should have said that). So seems like if they only had 30 players from U14 from all of VA, MD, and DC, then not all clubs are contributing players. (And from what I've seen on social media for U14 and U15 clubs highlighting their girls who got selected, that seems right). Seems somewhat more selective if not all coach recommendations get a spot. That's what I was trying to understand. Thanks! |
It's not 30 from all 3 of those areas, it's an even broader area than you describe. Bethesda and the rest of Maryland send their kids north to a different ID session on a different date. Virginia and North Carolina kids go to the one that just happened around here. It appears that the ECNL mid-atlantic region plus FCV go south, ECNL north-atlantic and MD GA go north, so it's 10-12 teams contributing to the player pool. |
I would look at the lists if I were you. |
What girls club in this area doesn’t nominate players? |
| Where are the lists posted? |
If you have lists, please share it. From what I've seen on social media, not all teams are represented. |
| You aren’t supposed to share lists. |
There are no public lists. Just what some clubs post to their own social media congratulating their players. https://www.instagram.com/nvaecnlsoccer/ |
So only players who have been scouted before would make it to the ID camp? Our team only got 2 players invited and did significantly better that two other teams in our conference that each got 4-5 players invited. I’m having a hard time believing that our coach only recommended 2 so maybe the rest just didn’t get seen? |
It is a 2 hour practice. Not a camp. |
| Heard no spectators allowed either. I personally like when clubs don’t allow parents to watch sessions. Understandable if clubs allow parents to be there for U-littles though. |

What clubs in the area regularly send girls to these ID clinics? |
