For a coffee or Americano? No. It's like $3. |
That sounds like a fancy coffee drink. Or just order black coffee, and carry crushed red pepper flakes with you. |
I just put a grande americano into my Starbucks app and the total is $4.28. Try again. |
So a tall is under $4? And a tall drip is $3. Not $6. |
Let me guess, a pour-over where they monkey with it for like 10 minutes and then serve you luke warm coffee? |
How do you know? I live in the south (albeit in a blue part), and many of the "little independent coffee shops" near me are certified living wage. But it's not like they have a banner out front. Usually it's a small sign or on the menu. |
Me again. How south were you, and do you look/act like a northerner? I met my now DH in grad school in the south, and he is from NYC. There were several times early in dating where I had to explain to him that he was being rude to waitstaff or whoever. In his world, he was just being assertive and direct. Luckily, he learns quickly. Anyway, were you acting northern? Maybe it was $6 just for you, and cheaper for locals. Sorry. |
| Make your own coffee? |
What does "south" mean? It wasn't in DC? I was going to say that you were my customer in the morning. The coffee was $5.98 with the tax and recovery fee. You added a $2 tip. |
| It is high but I pay $5.05 for my frappachino at Starbucks twice a week. It is what it is, I don’t tip on coffee though. They make good wages in Starbucks. |
| Because coffee prices are so absurd, my DH and I will only get coffees out about once every two weeks. Any more than that feels like a totally unnecessary splurge. We enjoy our Nespresso at home most of the time. |
What are you recovering from? |
|
I feel like coffee prices are one thing that hasnt gone up much, i pay around 4,25 for a cappucino and have for years. It is basically all profit for the shop.
I agree 6 dollars is a bit steep, at some point people will stop buying it What annoys me are coffee shops doing away with seating post covid. Like guys i know u make ur profit on take away coffee but part of the 6 dollar coffee pact is that i am paying to sit somewhere for a bit, too. |
Same except for me I only get coffee from a coffee shop maybe every other month or so. |
| I was back home in the Midwest for a wedding and both mornings this independent coffee shop & roaster in my middle class hometown had dozens of people in line getting all the expensive $5-8 sugary lattes and fraps. What made me laugh is that none of the “Midwest nice” people in line seemed to care the barista girls were totally slammed and that all of their complex orders were to blame. We got two drip coffees to give them some reprieve. That didn’t really help us because the girls didn’t actually hand us our coffees until they finished all the complex drinks in front of us first. |
