Almost all of their county players are on the same AAU team. It’s tough to know if the player wouldn’t make the county team because it’s already full or because of the kid’s skill set.

Which AAU team?

For county league teams? Two nights of practice a week from mid-October to the end of Feb plus 1-2 games per weekend starting in Dec and the games can be close by or far, far away.

NoVA Cavs. And some on Team Wootten.

Best to avoid Vienna. Even if your son makes the team, the coaches mostly play their favorites while benching the others.

How I do find the orgs with D3 teams? Newbie parent here, so all this is useful info to me.

What are good county options for a 7th grade boy average player who wants to get better? We live in 22030 and I really don't want to drive far for games or practices.

The games can all be far away. If you can't drive far, stick with house league.

Here is the link to the FCYBL site page to look up all the teams by grade and division:

The bigger organizations have B and sometimes C teams for the same age group.
Each team gets two exceptions. The first team will be hard or impossible to make.
Easy to make the third team even out of zip.

Last year McLean Select only had an A and B team. There were probably 80 kids trying out.
