How's your school year going?

^refusing to do anything as in get up, go to school or go anywhere. We aren’t even concerned with assignments at this point.

Dyslexia, ADHD and Anxiety kiddo here. She's in her second year at a small LD school and is having the year of her life! We're beyond thrilled that she is finally thriving after years of awfulness at public.

OP here:

Thank you all for sharing. Thank you also about the idea for keeping my DD in the school. I agree with this approach and will ask about it. I fear that she's figured out how to get out of school and that it will escalate.

Yesterday and this morning went well...

ASD/ADHD 9th grader. So far, way better than in MS. So he had a missed assignment here and there but nothing to cause him to go into full panic attacks.

ASD/ADHD/Anxiety 2nd grader is happy going to school every day. ADHD/learning & speech delay preschooler has difficulty waking up every day to daycare/school but she has great time at daycare/school. The main keys are the caring teachers and staff. My kids love to hug them a lot. Both kids are happy children, and they look forward to weekend to play. I am super tired.

My K ASD kid is happy at school which is a change from his daycare over the summer which he hated. But already have gotten a call looking for tips as to how to get him to engage and stay seated. Also dealing with a bunch of new negative behaviors that started over the summer. Just hoping he still likes school this year and trying to figure out the rest on my own.

Not great. Started new small private ld school. The entire class started a group chat that he was excluded from. The class completely bullied him all day yday. He is basically alone and bored all day. About to discuss with school but have low expectations

I would really encourage you to hire a BCBA who could go to the school, if they are in K they are still young an nimble and it has done wonders for our child with similar things, moving our kid up front for example has helped with staying seated, on engagement, it could be a tri-prong approach, speech, bcba, and an OT.

No planner coming home. DC is confused on when and what HW is due. There’s lots of HW this week. DC is tired from all the school work.

Which one if you don’t mind sharing?

KTS. Even there I would get the phone calls, though. And academic expectations are low. So we are exchanging smooth sailing now for the inability to do basic computation.

My son is doing well so far this year. I feel like he is such a completely different kid than last year. He is now in 3rd but last year he did zero work until March and would often hide in the corner or under the desk or rip up work and cry. We had his 504 meeting and his teacher was shocked when I described his year last year. She said she never would have guessed. He seems happy but is 100% utterly exhausted after school. I think it's a lot to keep it together, but I am proud.

Just fingers crossed that we aren't in some honeymoon period.
