Since when is Thurs Night Football a thing?

Pretty sure this is the reason

Our AD says it was due to a ref shortage, and all schools would have 1-2 Thursday night games.

Gentile much?

Umm yes, I am not Jewish. So what? 90% of MC isn’t Jewish.

Incorrect

There are many weeks of football on Thursday night this year

And a minority holiday shouldn't cancel football. That is weird LOL

You are being incredibly culturally insensitive. It is one of the two most religious holidays of the year for those who observe and school would be closed if it fell on a weekday (holiday starts Friday night into Saturday). I appreciate that MCPS has adjusted to accommodate the many families who do observe.

+1

Happy for your kid to stay home to study for their tests.

Well enough are that we recognize the holidays.

It is nice that the teachers gave this much advanced notice. Maybe your student could start studying / preparing for the tests (the parts they have already had instruction) and still go to the game on Thursday?

There are no games scheduled this Friday and next Friday. All activities will end by sundown on both Fridays because of the holidays. The other instances could be a referee shortage problem. However, these next two weeks are because of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. This is done so that students, staff, players, coaches, and referees, and families may observe the holidays. Happy New Year to those of you who are celebrating.

QO only has one Thursday night game because it is a real program. The other schools have rec programs.

90% of MC is a tolerant and welcoming community.

Agree! It's enough that they shut the schools down.

I thought it was because the drive from their player's actual residences is too far for a weeknight.

from 2022, after a brawl then mentions "Tier two could also involve changing the time of a game to earlier in the day on a Friday, or moving it to a Thursday night or Saturday"

Pretty sure this is the reason.
