Underwear for hot weather hiking/excursions

I know people say that, but I live in Florida and I would *literally die* if I had to wear wool anything during our hottest months.

If I don’t put the absorbent underwear on, I will look like I peed my pants from the sweat rolling down the small of my back. I also like REI’s swiftland 5” running short. They are lined and extremely thin. They are the right balance of loose and fitted for hiking. I have ample thighs for my frame and they do not ride up between your legs. They dry extremely fast.

I have not found a sports bra that dries fast. I am dripping in any bra. Panache makes a popular sports bra that has an underwire and a traditional clasp. I would opt for that or the Panache “Ultimate High Impact Underwire Sports Bra”. The wireless ones always feel sopping wet to me and then I get cold if I go indoors. The panache bra doesn’t hold the water and it’s literally the one sports bra I put on and never think about. Nothing moves and no chafing, even for half marathons.

I like light loose tops over the bra. Gap Fit makes some of my favorites that are not Lululemon or Oiselle.

Oiselle tool belt roga or roga 4” are also good choices of loose shorts with a liner, but the waistband can get a bit sweatier than the REI option.

I’d wear a bandanna and tie and extra one on my ankle or pack to wipe myself if needed.

I like the panache bra a lot, I wear it, but I’m an E or F cup and I wouldn’t run in it. Fwiw. For a smaller cup size it might be fine.

I’m the 34DDD poster and unfortunately I have to put a pullover-style bra on top of my Panache bra for running or it feels insufficient. My solution lately is to not run.

If you wear cotton now, merino wool is a vast improvement. Cotton is so much worse than merino wool.

I do wear cotton now, just like I wear cotton shirts and not wool sweaters here. I am not interested in wool underwear in a tropical environment. It sounds like hell to me and my privates.

Yes this is why people have historically shunned cotton in hot weather.

OP here...unfortunately I cannot wear wools, they irritate my skin. And while going commando and braless could work...I'm on this cruise with all my ILs so not sure I want to take that on, on top of the actual trip itself.

Think 32 degrees has some relatively cheap decent stuff

I typically go commando. If I underwear was necessity I would wear a Luluemon thong or similar.

Nothing is worse than bike shorts in the heat.

I have large boobs (32H) and for something like this I would just wear a bikini top and flowy tank or t shirt. Not going to strangle my boobs in a sports bra all day in that heat.

I cannot endorse merino wool undies. They make me sweat more. I’d go with athletic ones like the ex officio brand from REI

The Knix leakproof mentioned above is amazing for the sweaty months

Go to REI or LL Bean - they have fabulous products (that I used for a hike in the rain forest, worked great) that are made for hiking (wick away moisture and quick dry)
