McLean/Union?

But if you want to use the top SYC and Mclean U12 teams as a proxy for what might become Union at U13 it should be very strong overall. SYC at U12 plays a lot of highly competitive matches regionally and nationally and wins a lot but often recruits from other clubs rather than promote from within so read what you want into that regarding development and priorities. Mclean at U12 has some stellar individual players and generally the coaching is strong/ the players learn how to play soccer in a manner that will suit them long-term.

If SYC takes most of the ECNL slots, again, McLean's participation in the union starts to get a lot more questionable if you are a McLean parent.

Fortunately there are several ECNL options in the area that frankly might be a better drive depending on where Union practices would be held.

ECNL is supposed to be an elite league. Programs that guarantee slots at u11/12 will not have a competitive team by u15/16. A good u12/13 player does not make a good u15/16 player.

McLean owns the ECNL slot. SYC is keeping MLSnext to itself and dominates ECNL on the girls side. What does McLean get out of it?

Great question that no one seems to know the answer to.

This does not make sense. Can you elaborate?
