| What's going on with McLean/Union? I have a DD who is U12. How are the younger ages doing? |
| Hi to some practices, talk to some parents. Check League websites. Anything you get here take with a grain of salt. I find the comments about my Club are either outdated, shockingly bitter or must be from someone on the payroll they are so over the top. It will be fun to watch who comes out for this one. |
| *Thats go to some practices |
| my DD plays for an older age group and we have been super happy with coaching, families, girls, etc.... we were at another club before mclean and did not have a good experience. the coaches seem to really care and there has been noticeable skill development. |

Lots going on, younger ages doing well. No complaints, here.
Anything specific you'd like to know? |
| Wonderful club and coaches! |
| OP, "Union" won't form until U13--you probably already know that. But if you want to use the top SYC and Mclean U12 teams as a proxy for what might become Union at U13 it should be very strong overall. SYC at U12 plays a lot of highly competitive matches regionally and nationally and wins a lot but often recruits from other clubs rather than promote from within so read what you want into that regarding development and priorities. Mclean at U12 has some stellar individual players and generally the coaching is strong/ the players learn how to play soccer in a manner that will suit them long-term. |
What team is your DD on? What do you mean “what is going on”? Is there a problem? |
| How are the age groups doing? How is the coaching/adminstration. Is it organized? chaotic? Do players get fair amount of playing time? |
| I think most teams have had one tournament and possibly a single game. Hard to say how things are going with so little data. |
Do you still agree with your statement? |
| Union is living in the past. They do not have any recent success and their best recruiting age team was 5th place in MA. If you do not make u13 Union, go somewhere wise. They do not promote from within. |
If SYC takes most of the ECNL slots, again, McLean's participation in the union starts to get a lot more questionable if you are a McLean parent. |
ECNL is supposed to be an elite league. Programs that guarantee slots at u11/12 will not have a competitive team by u15/16. A good u12/13 player does not make a good u15/16 player. |
McLean owns the ECNL slot. SYC is keeping MLSnext to itself and dominates ECNL on the girls side. What does McLean get out of it? |
