How else would a day of soccer be tolerable? |
|
Great. Drunken dads and moms are soccer tournaments.
If under control amounts, bless you and enjoy yourselves. But please, we don’t need drunken abusive behaviors/languages from parents toward kids, coaches and referees. |
The parents drinking margaritas and hanging out aren’t the ones getting rowdy- it’s the ones two feet from the sideline invested in every second of the game |
At least in MD state parks, it's a Natural Resources Citation, and not a felony, of $55. That's for having alcohol outside of designated areas. |
We had an alcoholic mom on one of my kid's little league teams. I didnt realize it until the season was nearly over. She was constantly joking about bringing drinks to our games and then convinced several parents to meet for drinks before practice. It continued several more times and eventually one of the dads was disgustingly falling down drunk at a practice. His wife had to come get him. I really liked the woman initially but saw how manipulative she was. She was surprisingly effective at convincing fairly rational adults to drink to the point of embarrassment. They didn't just sip wine. The parents were drunk. I think it's gross and disgusting and the rules about no alcohol need to be enforced. I never noticed anyone else drinking at a game again for all the years my kids were in ll. |
We’re still relatively new to travel soccer (year 2) and have not done the drinking at a game or tournament thing yet. Not sure if I ever will… depends on whether there’s driving involved and the parent crowd I guess. But if I did I feel like it would make me less involved in the game, not more. Which would probably be a good thing! I get nervous watching. |
We camp at different National Parks and none of them have said no alcohol at the camp sites. Heck, we backpacked with margaritas one time. |
Then you weren’t paying attention. This goes on everywhere but it’s usually more discreet |
We had a couple of parents like this already on our U10 team last year.... kids did fend for themselves. Kids complained that their parents were drunk all the time, kids were angry quite often. Parents were manipulative. Parents visibly drunk picking kids up at practice. Such a hot mess. Social drinking at tailgates is one thing, but constant drinking during the weeknights and often after the games can be a turnoff and problematic. |

I love me some adult beverages, but that’s really tacky.
Not a fan of sports parents who make it their social life. |
Same here... I've only seen park rangers kick people out only if they were obnoxious and openly consuming while warranting complaints. I'd assume similar would be true for tournaments. Its not issue, unless people draw attention to themselves or get complaints. |
You don't get out much.

Who is driving the kids home? |
| There's a mom on my kid's U15 team who does this occasionally and very discreetly. But I can't imagine anyone drinking alcohol yesterday - it was SO hot in the stands! |
Man, sign me up for that team!! LOL |
