Not a big deal, although not ideal. Swim trunks are basically just boxers with a liner. Women wearing bikinis are basically wearing a bra and panties with a liner. The only thing different between swimwear and undergarments is the material and inner construction.

Ive done similar as a woman in my 30's and swam in my bra and thong - no different than a man swimming in his boxer briefs. Trust me, no one complains when I've done this at friends pools or the beach. Would you have preferred this man strip naked to swim?

I had an ex that did this only once before I put a stop to it because it looked obscene, especially after he had been in the water. To say he was gifted was an understatement but he was also a shower. Once bounce on a diving board and it would have been sticking out his leg hole and everyone would have seen some things they can’t unsee. Just no. Lol.

If he didn’t plan ahead to bring trunks then he’s not going swimming.

And black underwear will show less while wet than white underwear, or a cheap wet white swimsuit.

It's still weird, and he has to drive home with wet underwear, but not as much chance of someone seeing anything.
