No one here wants or needs your sympathy. We’re actually pretty happy!

I am very happy on my couch alone reading DCUM.

Took a tiny gummy to help me sleep. Catching up on soap operas. And laying on an acupressure mat. Kids are in bed. ILs have been in town for what feels like forever and I need solitude.

Here! I'm 40 and tired after wrangling the kids all day. Plus I went out last night and have a couple things planned for tomorrow, so tonight I'm ready for bed!

They like to entertain with small groups every weekend, it seems. Me... I want to go to sleep early, wake up early-ish, get things done and then relax on my weekends. I'm 42, not 22. I know I'm lame but I just want to get my sleep and exercise and introvert on the weekends (will make an exception occasionally, but definitely not every weekend).

Anyone else embracing their old fart homebody-ness?

When you like yourself and your housemates you don't need to go out to chase thrills.

Not always true - you can live together and be a boring family that do not like each other.

I looked it up and "forever" is defined by the DCUM World Dictionary as "the amount of time ILs are in town."

Also "the amount of time MIL will take to decide what she wants to order for dinner" and "the amount of time until FIL gets out of the only available bathroom in the house."

The PP said “when you like yourself and your housemates.”

Sometimes I feel like this, and perhaps it depends on where I am in my cycle, now I think about it. Right now, ovulation time, I'm a party girl! Went to see Barbie yesterday with a friend, chatted with a neighbor, texted/emailed various people, phoned my mother - I'm social at that time

+1
I'm PMS so all day it's been organizing and wanting sweets. We entertained which was good for the organizing (clean house) and the sweets (wine worked!) but wrapped it all up at a reasonable time (thank you other old farts!) and I'm winding down now.

My husband was this for years, and I was seeking socialization as a SAHM.
Now I work and talk all day, and I want the weekend to be at home - - but my husband is now 💯 telework and he wants to go be social!
Hopefully one day we’ll be in stride.

I don't understand how people get up early during the week, but do night-things on the weekend. Doesn't it mess you up for the week?

I'm a teacher and wake up at 5 to get exercise in most days of the week before work. So I get PLENTY of human interaction during the week. On the weekends I still wake up by 6am, and just want to clean and relax. If I'm going to be social, it needs to be weekend mornings or afternoons. After 7? No, it's time to wind down.
