DP. Our school has not sent out student schedules yet. Have any other schools sent out class schedules? Seems late.

i think all have but NCS

All? Which schools have sent them out?

Call/email the school and ask when to expect it. Unless books are distributed in person at school, this seems late because of the potential for shipping delays and how close the start of school is.

I don't want to out the school but the school DID not send out emails about the books so wondering if anyone knows when they will be doing so? Don't feel comfortable reaching out to ask.

Well, I left my magic scrying bowl behind on my last trip to Hogwarts, so I have no way of knowing what school you are talking about and therefore can’t tell you when it might send the info you need.

GDS supplies all the books—no ordering necessary which is so great! Wish all schools did this.

Yes - we got an email from BIM last week that had instructions for online ordering.

BIM is now Big 3. What school did it supplant?

This is a thread about books, not cafeterias.

That's how it used to be at most privates, but now that there are so many ways to get books, often used or cheaper, people demand options.

I think it is completely reasonable to email the 9th grade coordinator or the curriculum head to ask about the procedure for textbooks. Just say you are new, heard that you would need to buy textbooks, and ask how/when that is typically done.

Sidwell sends a link to a company - each class/teacher is listed with required and recommended books. But it includes full ISBN numbers in case you want to look for better deals elsewhere.

And at GDS, seniors can only apply to 10 colleges—max. There are trade offs in life.
I would rather my children have an onsite cafeteria, and no restrictions on where they can apply to college. I’m fine ordering books (shrug).
