Mouthwash for kids—any downsides?

Anonymous
Thanks to the nurse for the information. My son has been using kids fluoride rinse instead because they don't make mouthwash for kids that I can find. It seems to help with his bad breath problem (which is caused by his enlarged tonsils catching food particles, so the dentist/doctor have said). Not sure if fluoride rinse also is bad in terms of killing bad and good bacteria.

We have used Tom’s for DC8 for the past 2 years and it’s been fine.

My kid used kids ACT rinse nightly since he got a cavity.

Our dentist recommended this. The only downside is my kids are messy and it gets the bathroom all sticky. I don’t know how they get it everywhere.

All mouthwash doesn’t have alcohol

True but mouthwash isn’t needed. It harms oral microbiome and does more harm than good. All you need is flossing, brushing, and regular teeth cleanings. You can also use a water pik.

Says Dr. Idiot on the Internet.

I’m a nurse and I have several dentists in my family and as friends. All of them say mouthwash isn’t needed. You can use it if you choose, but it’s not important.

I love how immature babies like you resort to name calling when you’re too uneducated to understand.

You have friends who are dentists and all of a sudden you’re the authority?
I am a dentist. I am educated in the field. If your dentist friends want to post, that would be great. Otherwise, shut it.

Mine is ok with mouthwash but regular kid toothpaste is so sticky and a mess daily! I’ve tried different brands and all are so gummy and sticky, I don’t get it.
