Is this for a certain age? 11+? Our lsc (not on east coast) has a team travel option for 11+, but it’s not mandatory. My kid didn’t want to travel with the team last year and the team said no problem. We stayed in a different hotel and made our own travel plans. My kid likes to nap between sessions, so the team travel would have been hard for him. |
No, it includes the 10 and unders. |
Mandatory for VA too, and includes 10 and unders. Crazy to me that people were comfortable letting their 9 and 10 year olds do this. We went last year when it was family travel and it was great, but I didn’t let my kid attend this year. |
We would not be comfortable with this either. |
| Did VA have parent chaperones? I know that CT and NE did but PVS did not- which means, what, 6 coaches supervising over 130 kids??? How is that smart? |
That seems incredibly irresponsible. Who was the leadership on this trip (which coaches? Which teams?) Our friend did not go and they hit all those meets, now I understand why. Is there a way to complain to PVS? |
|
So the coaches were:
Elizabeth Sudassy (TOLL) Marye Carter (NCAP) Ryan Cunningham (NCAP) Sami Holtz (UN) Joey Peppersack (FISH) James Visbeck (STJS) Jordan Wilcher (PGPR) |
Gabriela Trainor from RMSC was the team coordinator. |
That is crazy and way too young to be required to travel without parent supervision. |
| Why can't kids travel with their families? Who is exactly is making this rule? |
PVS is making the rule. It’s a team travel meet. |
Agree with others, makes no sense for 10&u kids. Hopefully they revisit this for next year. |
I agree that 10 and unders are too young to do this type of travel meet with such minimal adult supervision, maybe the 11-12s too. |
Pp. Wow, I’m surprised this was for as young as 10U. It’s a long meet for them to be without a parent. Wonder what the reasoning is? For our lsc, they offered team travel for 11+ to let working parents off the hook, but honestly, no one wanted the responsibility and work involved in supervising the 10u kids, so it wasn’t even offered. Once we went into the meet, all the kids went to their team area where parents were not allowed, so they were spending all day with the team anyway. |
No way in hell would I send my 11/12 with those ratios. |
