Maybe. However, I say equal chances it will be done and open before the Purple Line… |
lol that’s funny |
Given how National Harbor barricaded itself from PG County, I suspect there’s little support for running Metro through there. |
Unnecessary for who? Seems like it'll significantly help move people between Virginia and D.C. -- unnecessary for me, but they've been suggesting something like this for years, so I imagine Metro has a reason for wanting to do it. |
| Do you think people in Virginia those stops? What road gets tolled to pay for it? |
I need to know this too. |
There would be both loud and quiet opposition in Alexandria to a Metro line coming over the river from PG County. Sad but true. |

invest the money on more worthwhile routes. The national harbor??
Connect Tysons to Bethesda It would alleviate so much congestion on the beltway and it's a massive commuter artery. |
| Looks great! I can't wait for my grandchildren to use the loop when it opens sometime in the next century. |
You can get from Tysons to Bethesda via Metro Center today. Plenty of people do it. |
for one of the largest transit routes of high paying jobs that is an idiotic path to work. |
Fairfax and the State of Virginia have invested enough in Tysons and McLean. Time for the rest of the region to get some investment |
It's certainly not a direct route to work. But, as the PP says, plenty of people do it. Also, a direct route between Tysons and Bethesda is an idiotic route for heavy-rail transit like Metro. It's not even a great route for an express bus, and certainly not without a dedicated bus-only lane. |
+1 amen to that. |

I'd imagine daily incremental ridership for this $10B minimum expansion to be well under 1,000. How about Metro find a way to maximize ridership on its current lines instead?
