BMW X3 - What options did you get that are worth it?

I don't think it is the same leather as X7. My friend has the X5 and the leather options there are not available on X3. Not sure what the leather vs sentec is like on X3. Also you have to get M sport package on X3 to get leather.

I ordered it with every feature (long story) but the 2023 models did not have heads up display or parking assist due to semiconductor shortage, as I understand it. The 2022 I test drove did have both so I was pretty disappointed not to have them. I don’t know if I have dynamic handling? I can choose how I want it to handle. Sorry that isn’t helpful. I know a few people who love heads up display.

The dealer told me I can now order the 2023 with the heads up display and parking assist. However on the BMW website - you can only build a 2024 model. But I plan to order 2023 model.

Did you get the M sport? What color did you get exterior/interior?

Yes, M sport. Dark blue exterior and black leather interior. I love it! I built it online and supply chain delays meant I had to rebuild a 2023 instead of a 2022 and that’s when I lost the heads up display, etc. I got it in Fall 2022 so back when it was hard to get a new car.

Thank you for the information. I was told I could only get leather with M sport. Does M sport mean that the fron kidney grill is black? Or do you need to add showline for that?

Also what dealer did you use to order it?

My front grill is silver on the X3 M sport. I remember there being options beyond leather when I built it. As for ordering, it’s a company benefit I got with a promotion so it went through a fleet management company my employer uses.

Thank you. So with M sport you have the black shadow trim around windows instead of silver?

Yes, I have black trim around windows with M Sport.

Sorry to keep on this point so with M sport I would get the black trim around the windows but a silver kidney grill? The one at the dealership had both black trim and black gloss kidney grill. However I didn't want that - I wanted the silver grill.

Is the BMW X3 leather good? I saw some posts saying it was hard vs senatec? I know the X5 leather is great.

I honestly don’t remember whether I had the choice on these when designing it. Sorry!

I can’t recall whether it’s different leather from the X5 but my X3 leather feels nice to me.

It is best to go see the leather in person. The colors on internet look different in person.

So what? Few owners work on their own BMWs. Those that do, and the shops which work on them, will buy the necessary tool. Incidentally, there are plenty of highly specialized tools which, if not actually strictly necessary, make working on BMWs much faster and easier, a trait BMWs share with many other makes.

Just because you don't see any benefit to a new fastener type doesn't mean BMW's engineers don't see one.

Looks like your feelings got hurt by a screw! You are both naive and foolish

If you want to repair your car yourself, you will be likely be able to buy an XYZ brand special screwdriver from China. Likely from exactly the same factory that makes the BMW screwdriver.
