I agree, this is rude. If I'm understanding correctily. You're conversating back and forth, friend makes a comment, to which you reply: gotta go bye. And then you hang up, without waiting for a response? Yeah, sorry, that's rude.

OP here. So the problem is that when I say I have to go, she goes off on another tangent and 10 minutes later, we're still on the phone. Where's the happy medium between simply hanging up and never being able to say goodbye?
