I finally weigh what my DL says

OP here - thanks to those who offered compliments, amd to those who offered snark, I hope your day is better tomorrow.

I am definitely not sleeping better (thanks menopause - up to pee around 2am every morning, and then awake again around 3;30-4:30 and am up foe the day), and I have been a person who works out 5 days a week for over 20 years, so no, no difference there. I look better in clothes and people compliment me on the weight loss.

I got the rx because my bmi was 28 and I had high blood pressure. BMI currently 24.1 (25 is considered overweight - screw the people that created this horrible measurement system, I hope they rot forever in pergatory for making so many feel so bad so easily for so long). Again, I have worked out 5 days a week for over 20 years, lift weights, do caedio, etc. I wasn't in bad shape, just fat.

DP: it doesn't have to be a "lifelong commitment", for many if they learn how to eat while on the meds they should be able to keep the weight off after one round of the meds.

But they rarely if ever fundamentally change their habits without the meds forcing them to, right? That’s precisely the problem.

No, not "right". There are people who do actually realize they don't want to be on this med for the rest of their lives, and actually do change their habits. Not everyone obviously, but some do!

I appreciate the insight and I am just so thrilled for you.

For the doubters, I will offer the reason I am on it. I have always won the weigh battle. But then COVID and some depression and some associated weight gain in an an amount that is really hard to lose (60 lbs). I tried to lose it the ways I have had success before but it wasn’t working and I got discouraged. And my workouts were so lame because I felt so heavy. So no hi impact for me because I was too fat. It becomes a downward spiral so I reached for a lifeline. I won’t be on it forever. But I will get this weight off and work hard to keep it off. Hopefully another depression inducing pandemic won’t cause a relapse. But every day I feel better and more active. And I love it.

My DL says I'm 30 pounds heavier than I am...which is even funnier because I put a weight on it that was 10 pounds less than I was at the time.

Congrats OP! I've lost 28 lbs on Ozempic since March (and no ozempic face or muscle loss that I've noticed). But I just went to check my DL and apparently I have not updated the weight since I was in my 30's because I am still 15 lbs more than the DL weight and it's actually below my recommended weight! Either way I am really happy with progress and weigh less than I have since before having children (my oldest is now 30, so that's a while). Still have a few more pounds to go.
