Romantic trip 2-3 hours from DC in October

Charlottesville is a great suggestion but Keswick Hall. And there are so many wineries, beautiful hikes, etc in the region.

Some good suggestions here: https://www.lindsaysilberman.com/things-to-do-in-charlottesville-virginia/

I’d go somewhere in WV. In early/mid October the leaves and weather should be gorgeous.

I love Berkeley Springs, you can book a couples bath in the bathhouse and there are lots of shops to visit. You can hike at nearby Cacapon

We had a great time in Williamsburg. Can’t recommend a hotel cause it’s been a while, but there are several wineries to visit, biking/ hiking trails if you may like that, and some great restaurants to enjoy.
