Romantic trip 2-3 hours from DC in October

Anonymous
This would be for our 10 y. anniversary. Looking for a place we can relax but also do 1-2 hikes.
We would like to stay closer to DC as it would be the first time we live the kids with an overnight Nanny.
We would like to stay 2-3 nights.
Your suggestions are welcome.

TIA

Yes, Ashby Inn also meets these requirements.

We have enjoyed the Wiliamsburg Inn.

We have also enjoyed the Williamsburg Inn. Fantastic service, and the historic area is so picturesque at that time of year.

Thanks all. Most of them are booked for the dates I am looking at. I was wondering about more modern options.

Built in 1947. Probably won’t satisfy snooty OP’s search for a “modern” (eye roll) oasis.

Nemocolin?

What’s wrong with that request? I don’t particularly love staying at a place that looks like grandma’s house

Different PP her and I fully admit to being snooty. I don’t like modern. Don’t understand the appeal of tides inn at all, Perry Cabin a joke and Nemocolin isn’t anything special. Inn At Little Washington isn’t romantic at all. Quant maybe but definitely not romantic.

I would do Keswick if anything in this region outside of a city hotel.
