| I'd bet that even after this thug shot and killed the hero Afghan man, he didn't even lay low, but was brazen enough to continue to commit additional crimes. |
In DC don't believe he can be held past 21. |
| The teen who killed the Uber Eats driver was only sentenced to be held until 21. I think they have to be 16 to be tried as an adult under current DC law. |
|
Thug was 14 at the time of the killing and cannot be charged as an adult no matter what.
I hope someone clips his legs in prison and he never walks again. |
Who is saying he was 14 when he committed the crime? |

Police charged the teen as a juvenile, which they are required to do because of his age. Tom Lynch, a D.C. police spokesman, said the youth was 14 at the time of the shooting. That means prosecutors cannot by law charge him as an adult. |
That’s a shame. Not charging him as an adult is going to get another person killed. Let’s be honest, it’s not like there’s any hope for this kid. |
|
He should be forced to work while he serves out his sentence once he is convicted.
Then, every penny that he makes should go to the family of the victim. And, once he is out, any money he makes - whether it is an income from a job or government subsidies, 90% of that should go to the victim's family as well. He should spend his life actually paying for his crime. |
| They’re only charging one kid? There was a whole group of them. Crazy. |
| Do people not realize how much they are destroying a whole generation of kids with these policies. This type of activity spreads if it isn’t nipped in the bud. Anyone who has ever supported a policy of allowing rampant teen crime is responsible for all deaths that result, and all childhoods destroyed. They better stop patting themselves on the backs for the massive destruction they have caused, This will take decades to repair. The anti-crime movement has cost the black community a full generation. Selfish stupidity. Virtue signalers are absolute most destructive type of citizen. |
What you fail to understand is that these policies you dislike will prevent the destruction of a generation. There won't be a criminal record or lengthy prison ruining their lives. |
Lucky him. The family of the dead Lyft driver probably will remember that when the murderer is let out after a few years. It's amazing how little some people in this city consider the victims' feelings. It's ghoulish. |
They themselves are choosing to destroy their own generation. This isn't petty theft from a bodega. It's the murder of a human being. That should never be forgotten and should be attached to a killer wherever they go, for the rest of their lives, and in all areas of their life. They have no one to blame but themselves. And no, I didn't have a great upbringing. But I damn well knew not to kill people for funsies. |
More than that even. Some of these kids wouldn’t be involved but it has been made cool and has been endorsed by the politicians and police. By allowing this to define their childhoods, you are ruining their ability to have a safe and educational childhood. The black community is begging you to stop this crap. |
I understand your point but I can’t help but think the anti-crime politics of the mid-90s led to an overall reduction of people getting thrown in jail. Word was out - you commit a crime you’re going to prison for a long time. Probably made more than a few people on the edge reconsider a life of crime. Early 2000s until the anti-racist, anti-police COVID era were some of the safest in America. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. |
