Who could realistically succeed Eleanor Holmes Norton in Congress?

I reached out to her office once and got a very quick and thorough response to my inquiry. No complaints here.

People (rightfully) complain about a lack of a vote, but there are plenty of other services Congressional offices provide that hers completely drops the ball on.

For all the talk about representation there seems to be a depressingly little focus on how unresponsive the people we currently elect to represent us are.

Ya know, I hate to pile on here but this was actually true in our case. I don’t want to go into any detail, but my family did once reach out to her with a constituent issue (we are all DC residents) and yes, we were completely ghosted. Totally ignored. I was stunned.

I haven’t voted for her since.

So interesting. We had the exact opposite experience. We’re in NW DC and her staff came through with flying colors on a timely, complicated matter.

Are you white?

Yes but how would they know that and why would it matter?

That would be a 10,000 % improvement over the experiences and the responses many I know have gotten.
She and her staff were rude, obnoxiously dismissive, with terrible communication skills.
This was about 5+ years ago.

Why Racine?

With a legacy like hers, she deserves a strong successor that would continue and further her work. Who do you think would be a good successor for Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton?

Laughable! She was and is an egotistical, ignorant pig.

Why do you say that?

That’s disappointing to hear

I do think she’s at least one heir apparent

If you think and executive who was in charge of a world capital city with a $4B budget would enjoy being a powerless member of congress, well, then you don’t know what the members of Congress job is actually like.

You don’t think she would want the visibility of being in Congress?

That’s what I’m used to hearing about her

Bowser is the only leader in DC. She, at least, has enough sense to be able to do some self-reflection. I’d vote for her in a minute.

Are you serious? Any potted plant would be more effective.

But, I'm curious, OP - what exactly is her legacy?

Norton will endorse Bowser.

Case closed.

She's not a Congresswoman. She's a Delegate.

Bowser, White, Henderson to name three.
