Can’t brag in real life

Why can’t you brag about this in real life?

Fantastic! Congrats to your daughter!

My daughter is a great kid, and a good student. Absolutely positively not top college material, and we are all ok with that - she will be fine wherever she goes. Not a great test taker - eh scores on her PSAT and ACT.

But today she found out she got a 5 on her AP language and comp exam!

This really just made my heart sing. She is over the moon. I’m so proud!

Similar situation here--my sophomore daughter is just an okay test-taker and got 5's on both APUSH and AP Psych exams. So proud of her!

Yay! My son got a 4 on the same test and I'm so happy too. Congrats!

That’s wonderful and congratulations to her! My DS, who kind feels like he lives in the shadow of his very high-performing sister just found out he got a 4 on his AP stats and he was really pleased. I was so happy for him too.

Congrats to her! My DD got 5s on her exams as well. We’re going out for ice cream, our usual celebratory activity.

Congrats to OP’s DD and all the hard-working kids! What a good feeling to take into the next year. Hope you all enjoy the summer.

How sad of a society we've become where we can't even celebrate great achievements due to the need for inclusion and equality and constant emphasis on being sensitive to all.

This is such a huge accomplishment and I hope your DD tooted her own horn on her social media. I've seen plenty of teens posting about their AP scores as they should.

Shame and disappointment are normal emotions and should be felt to learn how to deal with them.

OP here.
It’s not that I’m trying to respect those who scored lower. I just don’t want to be THAT PARENT. There is a woman on my block who lives to brag about her daughter. Every single thing. So I think I have overcorrected and keep every single thing under wraps because I don’t want to be like her in any way shape or form!

That’s fantastic! And such a confidence boost for her. Celebrate her for sure!

Eh. I disagree.

Congratulations! Only 10% of test takers get a 5 on that AP exam!
