My job is cool, the supervisors, not so cool, so I'd definitely leave.
I'd fix up my house and buy a second vehicle. Pay off my brothers mortgage in Florida. After that, I don't know what I'd do.

Someone has mentioned staying anonymous. I always think that winners shouldn't have the option of staying anonymous. If you go on TV and win millions, everyone knows who you are. So what's the difference?

I'd sooner win $25m with publicity than win nothing to keep my anonymity.

Because lottery winners have gotten murdered? And nobody wins $10million on a game show. They top out at $2 million. That’s very different.

The people who frequenty my local convenience store use their winnings to buy more lottery tickets. I'll never understand that one.

augh. years ago one of the local "hawks things at metro exits" guys was in my local liquor store with his shoeless dressed in rags grandkid, and basically handed over the days cash for lottery tickets and liquor. broke my heart.

I don't think I have bought a scratch off since the day I turned 18 but the machine recently drew me in and I threw in $5. I won $30! If it was that easy, I could quadruple that money! So I bought 5 more (keeping my original $5 - I'm no fool.) Won $5. Bought myself a coffee, kept the change, and ended my gambling career.

A tank of gas or two 12 packs. Too bad you can't afford both, but hopefully when it rains it pours for you too.

The difference is that the tv shows are allowed to set the terms and conditions of their contests. The government, however, is not authorized to share private financial information of its citizens (unless there is a specific exemption, such as salaries for government employees).

I’d love to pay off my friends’ mortgages, hire housecleaning weekly and personal organizers. I’d save/invest/donate most of it.

Me too! I think about this often.

+3 but I would love to do so anonymously, is that even possible?

Why do you feel you need to indulge? Put it towards something useful like groceries, paying for part of kids' upcoming sports season, a tank of gas, etc.

I imagine you wear a lot of beige.

$35 - go to the movies

$25 million? I mean hot dang. I'd quit my job, even though I like my job, pay off the mortgage, get a new car, pay off my sibling's mortgage, take the extended fam on a nice vacation. Invest most (BORING). After that? I'd do WHATEVER I WANT.

It’s called compound interest.

If you invest the $35 at a 5% return, it will be worth over $1 million in 212 years. I'm not sure how much $1 million will be worth in the year 2235 but how can you forgo over a million $ in interest?
