This strategy got me through when I decided to change--twice. Going to work felt like something I was doing on the side of The Job Search. |
+1 (twice too!) I need to get better about leaving before it becomes unbearable. |
|
I felt like this during my intern year (during which I often worked 100+ hours.)
i get it! It’s an awful feeling! Somehow I put one foot in front of the other and thing got somewhat better (though still bad.) anyway, eventually I finished and got a job which I like. Part of that liking is genuinely the contrast to how terrible work was back then. You won’t have this job forever (and you should absolutely pull a sickie if you need to!) and the silver lining is that future work situations will feel better in comparison to what you’re going through now. Good luck! |
| I am so glad you posted this bc you are me |
| Work on your resume today. Start applying to jobs today. The problem you have right now is that you feel trapped. Give yourself some options and you will begin to see light at the end of the tunnel. Soul crushing jobs drain you of the energy to help yourself - fight that feeling and do one thing everyday for your job search. Once you have taken control of your options, you will feel a huge relief and hope will reappear in your life. |
| If you can afford yo, I would quit. Respect yourself and your mental health. My boss was under so much pressure and being mistreated by his boss and colleagues (essentially bullied), and started having chest pains. He had to go to the hospital. Two kids in college so he cant easily quit, but i worry about the toll on his health. Hes a good person. |
| Gotta pay the bills. |
Sounds like a “Mental Health Day” is in order. Take it OP and do not feel guilty about it‼️👍🏽 |
| Now you have to tell us Op. |
| OP here. I called out Wednesday and today. My boss texted me asking if I’m sick. I’m dreading going back tomorrow - but following everyone’s advice!!! |
Extremely burnt out and done with it all |
+1 good luck op |
