Sriracha shortage is insane

What shortage? I have three unopened bottles plus sambal olek in my cupboard that's been sitting there for months. I rarely cook with sriracha.

That’s also getting hard to find.

The pepper shortage is impacting their Chili Garlic and Sambal Oelek products as well.

If you rarely cook with it then why do you have 3 bottles?

The shortage has been going on now for several years. Production picked up again last Fall but the pepper shortage has not improved and demand exceeded what is possible to produce.

Then sell it for double the price to the other posters, PP!

I have no trouble getting it in store and I'm not going to tell you where!

World Market?

It’s always available when I go shopping. Haven’t noticed a shortage.

When was the last time you looked to buy it?

Had. You had no trouble getting it in store. You will have trouble going forward.

If you are loyal to Huy Fong sriracha (the one w the rooster), someone told me that yellowbird sriracha is a close match. And this might be a good chance to branch out and try other things. We have a bottle in the fridge, but it doesn’t get used as much because compared to other hot sauces, sriracha actually has very little flavor other than some sweetness and some heat.

+100

No one wants knockoffs and store brands. We need the real stuff.

I found a rogue store brand when out of town and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a perfect dupe!

A friend moving gave them to me. Should I list them on ebay? Starting price of $100 each?

This is such a weird story. The manufacturer claims a shortage of chilis, but it seems like maybe that’s made up. I think they’re doing it on purpose for marketing.

What is going on with the supply chains?! I just don't get it at all. During the height of covid yes but now, no. Makes no sense.

Why are you asking about supply chains? That has nothing to do with what’s going on.
