How to handle this scenario?

How often do you eat out? It sounds like a lot.

Boundaries, no question.

You can pick an entree and a drink. We will get an appetizer to share.

The wealth of choices is too much for this kid, no need to finance his indecisions. Eating out is way too expensive these days!

This is exactly how my husband orders. Extra appetizers for the table, way too much food. We take it home and eat it as leftovers. Of course, he's a grown person who pays for the meal. But I wonder if this kid's parents order like this, and if he is just picking it up from a parent and isn't old/savvy enough to really understand how much it increases the costs and that it's not appropriate to do with friends who are treating you.

How old is the kid???

Any elementary kid I would feel really comfortable saying “everyone is getting one entre and one drink.” They’re still learning how restaurants work and how to handle social situations.

12. I think I just have trouble saying no to this kid because of how persistent they are. They are definitely the type who try really hard to turn no's into yes's. Innocent, but just persistent.

He's 12. If he wanted to drive the car and persisted, would you relent?

Be the grown up.
