Did your child’s ED submission get blown (not admitted)

What were their stats?

I am curious to learn how Dartmouth is reinventing itself. From what to what and how?

Not being admitted is not the same as blowing an application.

It’s OK their loss when someone else gets the Presidential library.

I feel like Penn is correct that kids who check those boxes make a better freshman class than a bunch of 3rd generation legacies.

Truth.

What a joke. I’d rather admit that tour guide over your legacy kid as well. Why should your kid get any bump at all?

This is fake. If you were really going to do a library you know to do it in conjunction with the application.

If OP could afford to fund a library, then their DC would've been on the development list.

Our DC was a 3Gen applicant to a different, but comparably competitive, school and DH learned that alum spawn are on a list, so they get a look, but then kid needs to sell themself to cross next hurdle. Fortunately, they were able to do so. Also have friends with kids who got into Penn. In those instances, both 2Gen. One family TOTALLY loaded yet any school would want that kid. Other kid probably also seen as some sort of a development case, but not similar net worth. That kid largely academically qualified, but nowhere near the gem of the first kid.

Wait, being Jewish falls into URM category at Penn? They're 2 percent of the US population and many, many more times that at Penn. I would actually think it would detract from an application.

THIS is why folks like you don't get into Penn. What an ignorant comment. Racist much?

Jewish here: I don’t understand how being Jewish helps.

Not only that, OP's child would have been recruited by the development department. These kids get personal tours of campuses and a development escort.

Hopkins

Highest rigor in every class all across the board, sports, all As entire 4 years, overseas program, job, awards, amazing Recs, impressive record etc. The type of kid who is naturally genius, disciplined, and yet still fully involved in community. Would do well anywhere truthfully. But didn’t come from a wealthy family and didn’t win a Nobel peace prize.

Didn’t get in and thankful went a diff route now. I think it’s important to know that rejections hurt but whatever the reason steers you in a diff direction, you’ll appreciate that pivot.

MI, had the stats but didn't apply to the honors program. I am convinced they thought they were a safety for high stats kid*, but was really 1st choice.

*perfect test scores, 4.81 wgpa, National Merit Scholar, varsity sports, leadership, etc., and, full pay

^^ was EA, MI doesn't have ED, but am still convinced they didn't get in because they didn't apply for honors program and therefore weren't taken seriously
