Another silly Facebook question...feeling blown off.

I usually write a note on my friend requests b/c my name changed, and I would say I only get something back 30% of the time.

I don't let it bother me- if it were a message, maybe I'd expect a higher response rate, but you just kind of have to ignore it!

Sometimes people take a few weeks to write back (I am guilty of this myself)

She might not be at a good place in her life, OP.

This made me laugh-thank you-too funny!

I also agree that the person might not get how this all works or may not be in a good place in life. I'm not on FB, but a couple we were friends with stopped ever inviting us over and slowly stopped accepting our invitations so things faded. One of them contacted us close to a year later and it turns out they were separated and they are now divorced.

It depends how you use it. I use it to communicate and keep in touch with both family and friends - without it I'm pretty out of the loop with my family since they live so far away. I don't do the games or friend random people to increase my friend count.

Same. Well, except I do love a little Scrabble with my college roommates.

Yes--just taught my dad, who has had a facebook account for a while, what messages are!

I am surprised by the number of facebook loathers. I have a big family and we are not that close and I use facebook as a way to see what my nieces and nephews are up to. (I was a very young aunt so I have nieces and nephews in their 20's.) I have also gotten in touch with some cousins via facebook. I do have a lot of "fake" friends...people I went to high school with that I'm not necessarily friendly with and I've been debating deleting those but really, I think it's kind of fun to see what people are up to. I hate all the games and stuff though. I'm not one to pick up the phone to chit chat so facebook suits me well.

Nuh-uh! I'm rubber and you're glue!

Now, THAT'S an immature way of communicating. That, and anonymous insults of other people's activities.

I fail to see what's immature about seeing pictures of people's families, discussing news items in near-real-time, and maintaining relationships that would otherwise be lost to the pace of modern life.

OP, I hear you. It sucks to have your memories tainted.
