Okay, that is great for your accomplished daughter who is probably privileged to have a supportive, UMC family. It’s the booty short wearing girls who are not so privileged and accomplished that really bear the brunt of society’s misogyny and contempt. |
Ironically, you are the one propagating the misogyny and contempt in threads like this. |
I'm an awesome parent. I have a great relationship with my kids as does my DH. They are healthy, don't party, no drinking, no drugs, no mental health issues like depression or cutting (not that I would blame parents for those things, never heard them curse, get along great with my elderly parents who they call and chat on the phone with regularly, get along great with their siblings, do chores around the house, are responsible with money, and get great grades. We have dinner together every night as a family and they talk to us about everything and still let us hug and kiss them. The older neighbors on my street light up when she walks the dog by because she'll stop and chat with them as they garden. I'm sorry this doesn't align with your superficial judgment about my DD's shorts because I'm sure you'd like to assume they are venereal disease ridden addicts, but they aren't. |
Ok Jim Bob. |
| This is how I dressed when I was 16 too. And I didn’t care what old ladies thought either. |
Me too. They might as well flaunt it now! |
Your parents should have also taught you that using language like "ass hang out" was coarse and crude. We weren't even allowed to say "butt." We said "bottom" or "behind." So you can stop congratulating yourself because you are ok with talking about minors "splitting labias" which I think is pretty disgusting and low class. |
Pretending that these distinctions don’t exist is not exactly spraying weed-killer on the problem, either. |
| The OPs who post these rants are plain dumb. Saying anything judgmental to an American audience will get you nothing but “I don’t care what you think!” How old are you OP you idiot? I’m an immigrant and I learned to simply keep my opinions to myself! |
| In HS I wore some questionably short dresses. I don’t think I was comfortable ever. And booty shorts. Graduated from an Ivy, gainfully employed, have a family, and let my daughter wear whatever she feels comfortable in. |
| I don’t love the look, but i wore some pretty short shorts back in the day when i could pull it off, so who am i to judge…. From a sanitary perspective, i prefer cheeks to be covered, so that’s our old requirement. That or bring a towel to sit on like in a nudist colony. |
See, you’d rather slut shame than change your attitude. You can’t simultaneously strive to control young women’s behavior and pretend to be bothered by misogyny. |

Our local public middle school changed the dress code because they couldn't get students to follow it. Previously, shoulders and midriffs had to be covered. Shorts and skirts had to be fingertip length.
Now it says "reproductive organs and nipples must be covered". So that thong bikini is perfectly fine to wear to class. Luckily it is chilly for most of the school year and most kids wear a hoodie. |
I don't know, you tell me. If your child's pediatrician started wearing only underwear while treating your child, would you be okay with that? If not, why not? It's just a body? She still has all the medical knowledge and skills needed to give your child medical attention. |
And saying "patootie" is asinine. I'm fine with girls and women wearing whatever they want. But if you call a vagina a "hoo-ha" or "vajayjay" and are scandalized by the word "ass", you don't have the maturity to show off your body. |
