OP is describing how every contractor treats federal holidays that they don't also give. |
+1 This is the way it's been for as long as I can remember. Sure. "Keep asking how they are going to handle this..." and see how long you keep your job. |
No not really since most days line up this is a new holiday and contractor companies are mid contract and haven't made the decision on it or can't yet. Not the same at all. |
| So, write it into your next contract, OP. This is how contracting works. |
Way to change the goal post. pp was saying how it's not the same lol

Tell me you are white and uneducated without telling me you are white and uneducated. It's a very old holiday and lots of people celebrate it. What's new is that it is now a federal holiday. |
Why did you just feed the obvious troll??!!! Smh. |
| I got paid zero when my client took a day off. Get a real job |
Not every government contracting company. My old company would make it a proposal/other stuff day in the home office. It sucks and the solution is to find a better employer - the are a lot of federal contracting companies out there. |
| Another former federal contractor here; Yep, I didn't get paid when the client doesn't work: holiday that my company didn't observe, government shutdown, snow (remember snow?). |
+1 Y'all cain't take away mah freedom. |
| People in other countries find it bizarre that employers here do not all observe the same public holidays. |

What? This doesn't make sense. |
When I was consulting I only got paid when I worked. Xmas, 4th of July, vacation etc I don’t get paid. |
Most but not all, especially extra days that feds usually get and early dismissals |
