If you are hoping for Blair it's a great school but there are advantages of many of the other DCC schools. Some have specialized engineering classes or other programs where your child can shine because the school is smaller and it's the same for activities. At Blair everything is relaly competitive because there are just so many students.

op here. i just changed my address to one in the zone for the high school (blair). i read that you’re not guaranteed your home school unless it’s the first choice process?? my kid is a rising junior. ive always been told that your guaranteed your home school no matter what… help!!! did i just change the address for nothing?? what are the next steps?? do i go to blair and ask the staff to transfer my kid ...???

You are always guaranteed your home school. However, they try to give the kids their 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice of school. So if your target school is not your home school, you can put that as your first choice but make sure your home school is your 2nd choice, if you want to avoid missing out on the home school as an option altogether.

I don't know what happens if you are moving after 9th grade but I would think they would guarantee your neighborhood school which since you (dishonestly) changed your address should be Blair.

I meant not authorized to live out of cluster. There are COSA and other exceptions, of course. My oldest attended a special program in another cluster.

There is so much super cheap housing zoned for Blair, come on, some of the poorest areas in MoCo are concentrated around there. Just rent some basic unit and sublet it if you must. How bad is your home school that you would lie to get to Blair? If your logic and value system has brought you to that point your kids are mostly behind the curve already and a slightly better meh environment isn’t going to help them.
