What are your goals?

She's 51, not 81. Yes retinol can help skin texture in your 50s too.

With my insurance tretinoin was $139 the last time I checked. Online Dr and pharmacy is much more affordable in my case!

Tretinoin is good for your skin to help with cell turn over for sun damage. Most dermatologists support and recommend using a tretinoin for the health of your skin.

Ehh, I'm with Kaiser Permanente and they told me no. They said I had to go to a cosmetic dermatologist, not a regular dermatologist. (I was there for mole checks). They wouldn't prescribe me tretinoin.

I get mine for $6 through alldaychemist.com

Kaiser prescribed it to me. I said it was for maskne and then I justified the renewal saying that it cleared up my blackheads (which it did mostly)

you can get it from apostrophe. it'll cost around $75, but i think it's worth it. 51 is not too old to start. just get a hat and use SPF daily.

I use the Sunday Riley retinoid. Is prescription strength better? I've used other OTC brands before but they were harsh, and my skin looks better using SR. I'm 44 FWIW.

I buy A313 and I think it's awesome. My skin started looking younger within a week. Bought online.

Thank you. I was slightly puzzled.

Tretinoin and other skin care is like brushing your teeth, OP. It's better to start now than never. LoL.

Did you read what I wrote, or did you just skim it? I never said she was "too old". I said she may be too late to the game because you have to use retinol for several years to see a difference. Daily. Sunscreen every day. Most women give up about 6 months in. Once you reach 50+ you're of the mindset that you want and need to see immediate improvements - Retinols will not do this for you in that short period of time. I am not wrong on this.

For those of you using an online site, which brand do you use? I looked at All Day Chemist and there are many choices. Do I just pick the one with most reviews?

I use this one: https://www.alldaychemist.com/tretin-cream-0-05-30gm.html

However, if you are just starting, you probably want to use the .025 concentration first.

Honestly the prescription one just works better. It’s actually not as costly if you are able to get it through insurance and may be cheaper than over the counter, depending on what brand.
